This was graciously signed for me by Carlos Ortiz at the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, NY. Signed boldly in blue sharpie. Great Image depicting Carlos vs. Paoli Rosi at Madison Square Garden! On November 18, 1961 at Madison Square Garden in New York future lightweight champion Carlos Ortiz and Paolo Rosi fought in the main event. Rosi put Ortiz down in the 9th round, but he arose and won a unanimous ten round decision.
Carlos Ortiz was born on September 9, 1936 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He won the World Lightweight Title on April 21, 1962 from Joe Brown. He eventually lost the title to Carlos Teo Cruz on June 29, 1968. He retired after losing to Ken Buchanan on September 20, 1972 with a final record of 61-7-1 with 1 no contest and 30 KO’s.
