Carmen Basilio Signed Original Press Photo – 1955 US Marine Corps.

$49.99

This original 1955 wire photograph shows the pre-fight fighting fit form of the Welterweight Champion of the World as he demonstrates the correct method for the combat used bayonet thrust. It was graciously signed for me by Carmen in bold blue sharpie at the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota New York. It is in excellent condition, with the original caption, clean front & back and measures 7 3/4 x 7 inches. A crystal clear image.  This one got a great laugh out of Carmen when I showed it to him! This photo was taken in Syracuse several days before his rematch with Tony Demarco. On November 30, 1955 at the Boston Garden Carmen Basilio defended his welterweight title against the man he won it from, Tony DeMarco. In a fight named Fight Of The Year by Ring Magazine Basilio stopped DeMarco in the 12th round.
