Irish Jerry Quarry @ 196 lbs beat Mac Foster @ 210 lbs by TKO at 2:05 in round 6 of 10 –

Although virtually an unknown quantity despite his record of 24 knockouts in 24 bouts, Mac Foster was an 8‐to‐5 betting favorite. His reach was an exceptional 81 inches, 9 more than Quarry’s. Foster, will collect $35, 000 to Quarry’s $50,000. “That’s why this fight means so much to me,” Quarry has said. “If I lose it, there’s only one way I go—to work.”

  • Quarry broke Foster down with many left hooks to the body in round five. He sent him sprawling in six, and after a right cross to the head sent Foster through the ropes, referee, Johnny LoBianco stopped it without a count. Quarry suffered puffiness under his left eye from the third round on, and inflicted a right eye cut on Foster during the sixth round.
