May 5 1936 Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY:   Ali Baba defeated Dick Shikat in 53:37 to win recognition as NY World Champion. Also Ernest von Heffner defeated Joe Corbett, Dave Levin defeated Chief Little Wolf, and John Murphy drew with Maurice LaChapelle. Attendance was 4,000. Promoter was Jack Pfefer with help from Al Haft, The Johnson Brothers and Adam Weissmuller. With Jack Curley gone, the Garden had become an European house, that could be used by any promoter who could produce $4,200 rent.   …..Thanks Steve Yohe…
