On offer is this magnificent photograph which pictures Jack Dempsey, as Champion, in full pose wearing fight togs. The photo is stamped by the famous New York studio Apeda and dates to 1925. This outstanding image is in near mint condition as found in its original frame (White House Department Store, San Francisco – Picture Department) . No creases. Fantastic, sharp, head-to-toe fight posed image of a very young Jack Dempsey. It is signed in black fountain pen ink, “With Every Good Wish To My Friend and Pal Ernest M. Drury Sincerely Jack Dempsey 4/1/25.” Oversized Apeda Original Photo measures 10″ x 13.” It is framed to 11 1/4″ x 14″. Jack Dempsey was born on June 24, 1895 in Manassa, Colorado. He defeated Jess Willard on July 4, 1919 to win the World Heavyweight Title and held the title until September 23, 1926 when he lost to Gene Tunney. Dempsey announced his retirement in February of 1928 with a final record of 64-6-9 with 49 KO’s. Presented here is an original, oversized Apeda Studio photograph of Jack Dempsey which he has signed and inscribed, while he was Heavyweight Champion of the World, to his close friend Ernest M. Drury, a Hotel Proprietor in San Francisco, CA.
